Interview with Nemo and Susie (part I)

Interviewer: So, I heard that you went to a vet again last night, Nemo, is it true?
Nemo: Yes I did. I went to a horrific vet last night.
Susie: HOLISTIC, Nemo, HOLISTIC. We went to see Julie Anne Lee, a certified homeopath at Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital.
Nemo: Whateva. Hee hee hee it’s a lady again. Hee hee
Susie: What’s that “hee hee hee”?! What do you mean “hee hee hee”?!
Nemo: Nothing! I like ladies. They smell better.

Interviewer: Why did you take Nemo to a vet again? Susie, is he sick?
Susie: Oh no, no, no. He is doing great! We wanted to switch him to raw food but we’d like a professional opinion first. He’s not 100% healthy so any change we make to his diet may have a huge impact on his condition.

Interviewer: Make sense. How did it go?Nemo sleeping
Susie: I think it went well, wouldn’t you say? Nemo?
Nemo: Hee hee, she said I was cute. AND smart! Yeah! She said I was adorable, smart, calm, relaxed, and sweet. Hee hee hee
Susie: Nemo, stop giggling like a silly cat. Now come sit down!
Susie: It’s the first time we went to see a homeopath. We were a little nervous while waiting in the room, especially Mike. He was freaking out about the bill we were getting later.

Interviewer: So was it expensive?
Susie: Totally. But it was worth it.
Nemo: Well I liked the room. It had lots of funny stuff, very different from Dr.Liz’s office. It had a poop poop box! And a huge bed on the floor. I didn’t like the bed, though, too many weird scents.
Susie: Yes. The consulting room, I guess it’s not called examining room there, it was decorated like a study/library. There were wooden desk, book shelves, lamps, leather couch and chair, a big pet bed on the floor, and a screen in the corner.

Interviewer: Sort of like a psychologist’s office.
Susie: Exactly.

Interviewer: This whole homeopathy thing is quite new. I’m sure many people are curious about it. Tell us what did the Homeopath do. Julian? That her name?
Susie: Julie Ann. She started with reading Nemo’s medical history. We asked Dr.Liz’s office to fax over his file. We’re not switching to this hospital. All About Cats and Dr.Liz are wonderful. They genuinely care about Nemo. We are hoping that they can work together…..Nemo, SIT!

Nemo sitting in front of a windowInterviewer: What did she say about Nemo’s condition?
Susie: She spent a long time explaining to us what vaccines did to animals and why adult pets shouldn’t be vaccinated every year. She said that Nemo was neutered in August, 2005. It’s very likely that he was vaccinated at that time. Then he went to Vancouver SPCA, where he got his second vaccine. A month later, he got ANOTHER booster shot. He was vaccinated 3 times over the course of only 4 months! It’s very possible that before the vaccine, his FIV was in dormant but now his immune system is confused and starts to attack himself. She asked about Nemo’s condition when we saw him at the SPCA. We told that he looked pretty much the same as now, just a little heavier. She said that for a stray cat to stay in such good shape, Nemo must have been very healthy. He probably came in contact with all kinds of diseases on the streets and survived. His immune system must have been really strong. That’s why he reacted so violently to the vaccines.

Interviewer: So vaccines are actually bad for pets?
Susie: Yes, especially adults. They don’t need it. I think this explains why so many pound cats have lots of medical problems right after adoption. They’re probably vaccinated too much.
