Nemo is a little constipated for the past couple of days. He does poop almost daily but he’s having a lot of trouble passing stools. I think that the raw rabbit we get for him contains all muscle/organ meats, grinded bones, vitamins, and essential fatty acid but no vegetables and fibre. Even though cats are carnivores they still need about 20% of vegetables in their diet. I’ve also read it somewhere that bones in raw meat harden the stools. Nemo has a tendency to constipate so I should have known to add some fibres in his food. According to this new book I’m reading, Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats—The Ultimate Diet, by Kymythy R. Schultze, there are two types of vegetables—above-ground and below-ground. Above-ground vegetables, such as green leaf vegetables, loosen stools and below-ground vegetables, such as root vegetables, harden stools. Usually these two types of vegetables should be fed together but with Nemo’s conditions, I decided to give him a lot more above-ground than below-ground. Vegetables are supposed to be raw, in puree form, just like in their natural preys’ stomach. I couldn’t figured out how to puree such small quantity of vegetables (one portion only) so I chopped the following vegetables (slightly cooked) very finely and mixed with his food: bok choy, mustard green, and green leaf lettuce. Nemo ate everything.

I’m going to buy some more organic vegetables tomorrow so I can feed it to Nemo raw.

It’s another glorious day today. Nemo seems to be excited about the sun because he kept meowing at the window/door. He played and napped in the sun most part of the day.
